Is Chris Bosh an all star starter?

Now we've all by now seen Chris Bosh's video to get himself voted in the all star game. Personally, I think it is fucking hilarious and I've voted for him. I was going to vote for him either, way I am a CB4 fan and showing his personality is always a plus. God knows the NBA needs some goofy, harmless guys at this point. By the way I can picture Jamaal Tinsely trying to get our votes, but he would probably go one by one and threaten to shoot us if we didn't vote for him.

I'd also like to note that Skip Bayless is a little pansy for criticizing Bosh because he made the video. I just think that Skip probably took it from his dad once and that made him lose his ability to understand "humor". Note to skip Bayless: Go fuck yourself.

Now having said that I think the video is awesome and funny. Let us try and figure out if Chris Bosh is an all star starter, talent wise.

To first do that we need to figure out who the starting Power Fowards are for the 15 teams in the Eastern Conference.

Kevin Garnett (BOS)
Sean Williams (NJ)
David Lee (NY)
Reggie Evans (PHI)
Joe Smith (CHI)
Drew Gooden (CLE)
Rasheed Wallace (DET)
Jermain O'Neal (IND)
Yi Jianlian (MIL)
Marvin Williams (ATL)
Emeka Okafor (CHA)
Udonis Haslem (MIA)
Rashard Lewis (ORL)
Antwan Jamison (WAS)

and our very own CB4

Since we all know that Lebron James is a mortal lock to start in the all star game, otherwise David Stren would crap his pants, lets just assume that CB4 has to beat these other 14 guys to get in. And again we're looking for talent wise and not "I get votes because I'm from China" wise, sorry Ji, I know it's not your fault but your country men have seriously over estimated you.

So with that being said we can easily eliminate Sean Williams, Joe Smith, Reggie Evans, the aforementionned Yi and the three hustle guys Drew Gooden, David Lee (the anti-knick, meaning Isiah will trade him for a balla who runs with the Crips or something) and Udonis Haslem (whom these days is the best big man in Miami, how the mighty have fallen).

That leaves us with Kevin Garnett, Rasheed Wallace, Jermaine O' Neal, Marvin Williams (who has not been getting enough credit for the rise of the Hawks), Emeka Okafor, Rashard Lewis and Antwan Jamison.

Now, as good as Marvin Williams has been in comparison to other years, I think we can all agree he doesn't match up with Bosh or his numbers. O' Neal has struggled and his team seems to come together more when he's hurt so he's out of the race. Rashard Lewis is not playing as big a role as CB4 for the Magic, his numbers are also weaker. He's out. Rasheed's number this year have not been up to par with his recent campaigns, and he wasn't good enough to be an all-star then either. Emeka is posting a double-double for the Bobbiecats, but they are under .500 and Oka is averaging under his career usual for PPG, we have to cut him.

That leaves us with CB4, not suprisingly KG and maybe more suprisingly Antwan Jamison. While Bosh is averaging more points than KG, he is averaging about a rebound less/game. Also KG's talent cannot be measured with stats as he has been the leader for the resurging (and also very gay) Boston Celtics. It is obvious to me that KG should start in the all-star game.

But now that we've established if CB should start, one should also wonder if he should be the back up power foward. As much as I love Boshy and think he's an awesome player, I don't think people have been giving enough credit to Twan. They are without their superstar in Gilbert Arenas and yet, the Wizards stand at 17-15, compare that too the Raptors' 17-17 record and you can see that the Wizards have been playing slightly better ball. Also Twan is averaging about the same number of points/game as Bosh while grabbing an extra rebound/game. I think that given the fact that the Wizards should be out of the playoffs already without Agent Zero, I have to give that second PF spot to Jamison.

Bosh is amazing but has only been the Eastern Conference's 3rd best PF this year if you ask me.

The 1st annual positional rankings

I have decided to start a new trend here at Ian’s Ramblings, which gets updated so infrequently and probably has a readership of 1, or 0. But starting tonight I vow to update semi regularly which in turn, will hopefully bolster my followers as well. As I was saying before I started to digress, I am starting a new yearly ranked list that will rank each position’s top 10 players. I will do this list every year during the summer time before the beginning of the next season. I started doing one last year, with the intention of having a top 30 list, but kind of crapped out after my top 13 and never got back to finishing it. But this year, I am harder, better, faster, stronger and ready to get it done (Daft Punk and Kanye, don’t worry your checks are in the mail). Let’s start with the point guards, some of my favorite players are 1’s and the duty that they have on an NBA team is of the utmost importance, unless you’re the Clippers in which case it doesn’t really matter what you do, as you ar...

New Years Resolutions!

As the year is drawing to a close and with a new one just entering the door, what better time to go over all 30 NBA teams' New Years' Resolutions! Atlanta Hawks: To search the Italian League through and through in order to find someone named Luigi. After having found said player, the Hawks will sign him to a contract. Simply for the hilraity provided with having both Mario and Luigi riding the bench for the team. Boston Celtics: To have a special agent break both of Kobe's legs and assasinate Pau Gasol. Once that task is done all the Celtics have to do is hope the Warriors don't somehow squeeze into the playoffs and then the NBA finals. Charlotte Bobcats: Have Boris Diaw and Michael Jordan undergo a surgery that would take Jordan's heart, talent and killer instinct and implant in Diaw's body. If this operation is a success, the 'Cats would have a 25% chance to go 35-47. In the East, that's good enough for the 3rd seed... right? Chicago Bulls: Make sure t...

Top 10 shooting guards in the NBA

So here is, as promised, part 2 of my top 10-by position- lists. Look at me, actually delivering what I say I will. I feel all high and mighty. Top 10 Shooting Guards 1. Kobe Bryant There is no argument against this and I will not hear anything anyone tells me. The best player on the planet should understandably be the best player at his position. 2. Dwyane Wade He is like Kobe lite. He plays in a similar way that KB plays, especially in his younger days, and he has a habit of putting points in your face. A lot of people have compared Flash to Michael Jordan but I think he is more athletic and more talented Scottie Pippen. As in, the guy has proven he can win without being the big banana. They have also shown some skills in being the starring role as well, Pippen when MJ first “retired” (actually leading the Bulls to a 2 point increase) and Wade when Shaq was kicked exiled to the Suns last season. (Even though it was understated that by then Wade had been the leader for a while, Shaq w...
